  Jackson, Corporal Paul R., 1925-1999. Enlisted at Fort Hayes in Columbus on July 29, 1944; Served in the U. S. Army as part of General George Patton’s 3rd Army Combat Unit during World War II; March 11, 1945, was taken prisoner during the Rhineland Campaign by the Germans at the Luxembourg border; prisoner group was marched 300 miles to a small town near Munich, German; an Allied plane spotted the prisoners and tanks were sent to liberate them; when liberated, Paul only weighed 90 pounds; was discharged July 2, 1946; Awarded the European Theater ribbon with one star; the Good Conduct Medal; and the Victory Medal of World War II; later on he was awarded a Prisoner of War Medal
