Brent Carson to Share Photos of
     Downtown Delaware on Saturday Night

Brent Carson will speak to the Big Walnut Area Historical Society at 7:30 Tuesday evening, February 12, in the Myers Inn at 45 South Columbus Street.  Carson will show his DVD, Friday Night in Downtown Delaware.   The program consists of Delaware photos from 1925 to 1975.

Brent was born in Delaware, graduated from Hayes High School and taught in Willis Jr. High until he retired.  He has been a pillar in the Delaware County Historical Society for many years and is currently the president of the society.  He co-chaired the Delaware County Bicentennial Celebration with Rick Helwig in 2008.

For the 2008 Celebration Carson helped produced a DVD based on history of The Story of the First Ohio State Football Game which was played against Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware.

Around the same time, Carson took a group of school students to travel Beside Our Springs and Streams as they explored the stories of Native Americans and Early Settlers of Delaware County.  The trip was filmed and made into a DVD conceived, written and narrated by Brent.  The film was sponsored by the Vogel family and presented at the Vogel Series at Ohio Wesleyan University.  This series ties the town and gown of Delaware together.

Today Brent can be found giving programs to schools and community clubs, giving tours of the historical society and the surrounding area, and always collecting history and stories of the county.

February 12th, Brent will share his newest DVD of photos of Delaware.

The Big Walnut Area Historical Society meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Myers Inn Museum at 45 South Columbus Street, facing the southwest corner of Sunbury Square.
